I’m John Clark IV and I’m an illustrator, cartoonist, and designer living in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I have an illustration style that I describe as being “Vintage Cereal Box”. I have worked for the past 10 years creating illustrations for a variety of media including: children’s literature, animated videos, app games, art prints, packaging, websites, mascots, apparel, marketing materials, signage, and stationery.
I created this site as my personal portfolio to 1.) showcase my work for agencies and companies seeking to enhance their campaigns and brands with a unique and inventive illustrated look and 2.) be a bridge to connect with other talented illustrators and designers.
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I have a Bachelors Degree in Advertising/Graphic Design from the University of South Alabama and an Associates Degree in Studio Art from the Lurleen B Wallace Community College.
More about me
In 2009 I created HOP & JAUNT a New Orleans based full service creative agency creating enganging brand stories through design. My partner Alyson Kilday and I founded HOP & JAUNT during a year sabbatical while sailing through the Caribbean and South America. At the end of our travels, we decided to plant our design business in the only place that would satisfy our love for interesting places, New Orleans. Alyson and I live in the Garden District of New Orleans with our dog Lobo.
In 2013 I co-created and self-published my first children’s book, “What the Sleepy Animals Do at the Audubon Zoo”. The Sleepy Animals is an award-winning children’s book that captures the culture and charm of New Orleans with rich illustration and playful rhyme and has sold over 10,000 copies since its launch in July 2013.
I also design and illustrate art prints for Old Fashioned Press, a New Orleans studio that distributes handsome and stylish prints for home furnishing and decor.
In my spare time I enjoy woodworking, designing and building furniture.
